Oh how lucky we are to have you declare what is and isn't a sport.

Personally, I'd rather take the advice of the Olympic committee on what is or isn't a sport. Cycling is therefore a sport.

Re: Anybody going to watch Wiggo?
The definition of Sport:

'an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.'

Notice the 'AND skill' bit?

Cycling is not a sport.

Actually you're right, I should calm down as I never got any recognition in the days when I got up at the crack of dawn to drink every day.

Took proper dedication that.

Calm down Grumps

Re: Anybody going to watch Wiggo?
After Rio they could both have won medals at 5 different Olympics.

Absolutely phenomenal achievement that, considering the dedication needed to drag yourself out of bed at the crack of dawn for 20 years to stay at the top.

Legends regardless of their personalities.

Re: Anybody going to watch Wiggo?
The way I look at it both Wiggins and Redgrave are English sporting achievers at the highest world level and are worthy of our appreciation.

It is a very English thing though to diminish achievers but build up also rans.

Would have preferred to see an hour of Harvey Price struggling not to flatten a tricycle myself.

Bloke is a complete cunt but fair play, what a talent.

Can certainly ride a bike, which is more than I can!

He did however win 3 Olympic gold medals and get the hour record all by himself.

' Wiggo was carried by the entire Sky team, as he wouldn't have been any closer to winning the tour than me without them.'

As has been the case with every Tour winner since it began.

Grumpster 3:04 Mon Jun 8
Re: Anybody going to watch Wiggo?
Was purely to make a point, that it's ridiculous to say Redgrave was carried.

Bit harsh. Sky definitely had a massive say in him winning the Tour in 2012 but he managed to finish 3rd in 2009 without them.

I went - had seats by the start line.

Was it expensive? Not really. £50 per ticket.

Great atmosphere and history was being made.

I apologise, I did get Cavendish mixed up with Froome. sorry.

He is arrogant. I read his autobiography and all he does is talk about himself.

I'd be pretty pissed off if I bought his autobiography and he talked about somebody else all through it!

Bit of a silly thing to say, as Wiggo was carried by the entire Sky team, as he wouldn't have been any closer to winning the tour than me without them.

No doubting his achievements in the sport though and a superb time trialist.
